MAROON 5
From Los Angeles. Led by Adam Levine (vocals/guitar) with James Valentine (guitar), Jesse Carmichael (keyboards), Mickey Madden (bass), and Ryan Dusick (drums). Originally a four piece called Kara's Flowers, they released one unsuccessful album and took a life break, regrouping a few years later with more musical and life experience. Their changes made a success from a failure. Now, not quite a pop act or a rock act, they mix elements of funk and soul in a successful blend, much as Jamiroquai did, creating something new and alternative to the mainstream. They made internet music history as well when their hit "This Love" became the first song to "go platinum" through legally downloaded files.
