THE MODERN LOVERS

From Boston, Massachusetts. Led by Jonathan Richman (vocals/guitar) with Jerry Harrison (guitar), Dave Robinson (drums) and Ernie Banks (bass). An early 70's group of garage punkers who got both Kim Fowley and John Cale to produce demos for them! The demos didn't see the light of day until after the band had split up but their reputation preceded them. Richman formed a new band of Lovers as a backing band only with minimal creative input. Harrison became a member of Talking Heads while Robinson joined The Cars. 1971-72.
