San Francisco, California and New York City. Led by Willy DeVille
(William Borsey) (vocals/guitar) with Louis X. Erlanger (guitar), Tom
Allen
(drums), Ruben Siquenza (bass) and Bobby Leonard (keyboards). A
mainstay
of the early New York City punk scene, their tough version of R&B
was a
streetwise sound that fit right in and still contrasted nicely with the
bands
around them. DeVille soldiered on as a solo artist and is
best known
as the vocalist of "Storybook Love", the theme to the film "The
Princess Bride". Never really breaking into the mainstream,
DeVille passed away August 6, 2009, still largely unknown as an artist
and as an essential member of the early NYC punk scene.
