MASSIVE ATTACK

 

 

From Bristol, England.  A trio of D.J.'s: Robert "3D" del Naja, "Daddy Gee" Marshall and Andrew "Mushroom" Vowles.  These three gentlemen helped to establish Bristol as the heart of the trip-hop movement.  Taking the moods of ambient music and combining them with grooves and rap gave expression to their vocalist Tricky.  While Tricky was their main contributor, he left the group to work solo.  In his wake, they have continued with a series of guest vocalists including Tracy Thorn of Everything But The Girl, Elizabeth Fraser of The Cocteau Twins, Damon Alburn of Blur, Sinead O'Connor, and Madonna!  Vowles decided to leave the group in 1999.  1990-present.
