LIVING COLOUR
From Brooklyn, New York. Led by Vernon Reid (guitar) with Corey Glover (vocals), Doug Wimbish (bass) and William Calhoun (drums). Much attention was originally focused on this band since it was an all black hard rock unit. Reid, a veteran of James White's Contortions as well as Defunkt had come to prominence by forming the Black Rock Coalition. The coalition was intended to band together black bands that might otherwise be neglected because of their non-black playing style. The band ended in 1993. Glover became a VH-1 host and released a solo album while Reid went on to solo work as well. Wimbish was once a member of Tackhead. Glover has also dabbled in acting, you can see him in the war film "Platoon". In 2002 the band reformed and released their first new album in ten years. After recording a new version of "Cult of Personality" for the Guitar Hero III video game, a whole new generation was introduced to their music. A new album followed in 2010. 1988-93/2003-present.
