CYNDI LAUPER
From Brooklyn, New York. The former lead singer of Blue Angel went from rockabilly belter to popular albeit ditzy lame-brain with weird hair and a penchant for wrestling. The trick worked, mining several alternative pop hits before becoming a straight ahead pop star. A witty personality and great voice have helped her remain endearing to many. Cyndi also sang the theme song to the popular "Pee-Wee's Playhouse"! In the 90's, Lauper began to fade musically but managed to win an Emmy award for her acting guest appearances on the television sitcom "Mad About You". In the 2000's, Lauper is now looked upon as an 80's icon. 1984-present.
