LORDS OF THE NEW CHURCH

From England. Led by Stiv Bators (vocals) with Brian James (guitar), Dave Tregunna (bass) and Nicky Turner (drums). After the demise of The Dead Boys, Bators teamed with James (fresh out of The Damned) and Turner and Tregunna (from Sham 69) to form this early punk gothic combo. After the band fell apart, Bators briefly reunited with The Dead Boys but was unfortunately cut down by a car in a hit and run incident in 1990. Interestingly, the remaining members (James and Tregunna) decided to have another try at it and in staged a comeback with a new singer for the tour, Steven Marque. Marque was replaced by Adam Becvare. Meanwhile Marque (who sought to market them aggressively) slyly applied for possession of The Lords' trademarks. This led to a temporary abandonment of The Lords name and logos until the legal implications can be straightened out. James, Tregunna and Becvare are now playing as the Brian James Gang. 1982-85/2001-2003.
