THE LONG RYDERS

From California.  Led by Sid Griffin (vocals/guitar/harmonica) with Stephen McCarthy (vocals/guitar), Tom Stevens (bass) and Greg Sowders (drums).  An early alternative country and cowpunk outfit.  Griffin now leads the Coal Porters and has written a book on the life of country rocker Gram Parsons.  Griffin also happens to be married to Dream Academy member Kate St. John.  In its prerecording days, the group also contained Steve Wynn who later went on to form The Dream Syndicate. The band reunited for a brief tour in 2004. McCarthy is now a member of The Jayhawks.  1983-89.
