From London.  A supergroup of punk and new wave stars that existed before any of their contracts did!  The group consisted of members Chrissie Hynde, Mick Jones, Paul Simonon, Brian James, Tony James and Terry Chimes.  Some bootlegged recordings are known to exist from rehearsal sessions but little else.  The group split up in two directions initially. Mick Jones with Simonon, Chimes and Viv Albertine (later in the Slits), adding Joe Strummer (ex-101'ers), then dropping Viv and becoming The Clash!  The second camp of James, James and Hynde burst apart quicker with Hynde off to form The Pretenders. James and James then teamed up with Dave Vanian, Ray Burns and Rat Scabies to form The Damned.  Tony James left and formed Generation X with Billy Idol.  Somewhere in all the changes, guitarist Steve New was also involved.  The London S.S. were more legend than talent as a group, the talent showed itself in all its pieces later.   1976.
