KRAFTWERK
From Germany. A duo of Florian Schneider (vocals/programming) and Ralf Hutter (vocals/programming) with Wolfgang Flur and Karl Bartos. Starting as Organisation, this band of art rockers created what would become the electronic movement. Founding fathers of synthesizer rock that lent itself to pop instead of bombast. The name Kraftwerk translated means "power station". Flur and Bartos left the band due to its inactivity and Bartos formed the similar sounding Electric Music, also collaborating with members of new Order and The Pet Shop Boys in the band Electronic. In 1997, Schneider and Hutter toured under the Kraftwerk name which fueled speculation that new studio material was forthcoming. Since that time a few new pieces of music have emerged and they have made a few high profile concert appearances. Schneider left the band in 2009 leaving Hutter at the controls with new touring members. 1970-present.
