KID ROCK
From Detroit, Michigan. Kid Rock is Bob Ritchie. On the rap scene since 1988, his raps took little notice until about ten years later. His breakthrough, "Bawitdaba" features a stolen rap from the rap classic "Rapper's Delight". On this particular track, Kid and Rob Zombie could sing the same song and you wouldn't know the difference but further listening of his albums reveal an intense classic album rock influence in the tradition of the Allman Brothers and other Southern influenced bands as well as contemporary rap and rock. This anomaly in styles became glaringly obvious when his song "Picture" (a duet with Sheryl Crow) was released. Kid sealed his legend as a rock icon when he began a relationship with 90's bombshell Pamela Anderson that resulted in an on-again/off-again engagement and eventually a marriage on July 29, 2006 that lasted only four months. He also made a spectacle in his road show with the assistance of a rapping midget named Joe C., who unfortunately died in 2001 from his physical difficulties. The like minded Uncle Kracker was part of his band also, another rap poser who releases pop influenced classic rock retreads. For the kid and company, it seems that rap was a means to an end and a dollar sign. Since he started as a novelty it appears he will end the same way. 1990-present.
