JIM KERR

From Glasgow, Scotland.  The lead singer of Simple Minds steps out on his own late into his career as Lostboy! (AKA Jim Kerr) and offers a few twists in other directions but mostly sticks with a familiar sound that we've known for all these years.  Kerr began his music career in Johnny & The Self Abusers, a punk act that quickly morphed into the elctro Simple Minds.  Recording since 1977, Kerr's music was just a step or two behind U2 in the pomposity scale before the band reached their zenith in the late 80's.  Married to rocker Chrissie Hynde for six years, Kerr sealed his reputation as a ladies man by marrying rock wife/actress Patsy Kensit for four years as well, fathering a child with each.  Kerr's refusal to disband Simple Minds when they were past their prime and to embark on a solo career now stinks of self importance, but as a singer and song crafter Kerr is steady and always a welcome sound on the radio.  2009-present.
