JULUKA
From Johannesburg, South Africa. A rock band led by Johnny Clegg (vocals/guitar) and Sipho Mchunu (guitar). This band made history by being the first successful (and illegal) biracial band in the days of South African apartheid. Mchunu retired and the band changed names to Johnny Clegg and Savuka. The band reformed for a tour in 1996 and it went so well that they reunited. Clegg was originally born in England and grew up in several African nations. Clegg was unofficially adopted as son to a Zulu king. Juluka's albums are often sung in Zulu and in English. 1976-85/1997.
