JOSH JOPLIN
From Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Josh Joplin (vocals/guitar) led a self named group that was a typical struggling independent act until being chosen along with three other bands for a "making the grade" contest on television. The band that collected the most points for performance, money made at the door, etc., after a tour would be the winner. The band won and their song "Camera One" came to national attention. They have however not been able to capitalize on the momentum that their 15 minutes of tv stardom bestowed upon them. It does not however detract from the fact that this band makes some damn good music. The first two albums were released under the name The Josh Joplin Band while current albums are released under the name The Josh Joplin Group. While the group is based in Atlanta, Joplin himself now resides in Brooklyn, New York. Joplin's primary influence in his story-telling style comes from his admiration of classic folk artists Bob Dylan and Phil Ochs. 1998-present.
