MICK JONES
CARBON/SILICON
From London. The co-leader of The Clash and leader of the many incarnations of Big Audio Dynamite. Jones has always been willing to experiment and it was his influence in The Clash that enabled them to stretch the boundaries of punk into dub and even rap. It was that same experimental spirit that got him tossed from the group and led to his pioneering use of sampling in Big Audio Dynamite. Teaming with former Generation X guitarist Tony James (who had originally worked with Jones in the early punk group London SS), they created an aural collage that shows that even now, Jones is still on the edge of innovation. This was created as a response to the US war on Iraq. Since that release they have formally named themselves Carbon/Silicon. 2003.
