JAPAN

From South London.  Led by David Sylvian (David Batt)(vocals/guitar/keyboards) and Mick Karn (Anthony Michelides)(bass) with Steve Jansen (Steve Batt)(drums), Rob Deab (guitar) and Richard Barbieri (keyboards).  Artsy new wave that bears a strong resemblance to Roxy Music.  They enjoyed great popularity in Europe as well as Japan but are hardly known in the U.S.  After the group broke up, Sylvian began a continuing solo career.  Karn formed the short lived Dali's Car with Peter Murphy of Bauhauas.  In 1989 the group reformed to fulfill a contractual obligation and made one album under the name Rain Tree Crow which was released in 1991.  1978-83/1991.
