JAMES
From Manchester, England. Led by Tim Both (vocals) with Larry Gott (guitar), Mark Hunter (keyboards), David Baynton-Power (drums), Saul Davies (violin) and Jim Glennie (bass). The band is named after the writer James Joyce. This band has a sound very much like other Manchester groups of the time but with greater pop sensibilities. Their biggest hit worldwide was the quirky "Laid" which featured vocal characterizations similar to yodeling. The band broke up in December of 2001 but decided to give it another go in 2007 and continue on with their unique version of Britpop. 1983-2001/2007-present.
