MICHAEL HUTCHENCE

From Sydney, Australia. Hutchence, the lead singer of INXS, first released some solo work on the soundtrack of a movie called "Dogs In Space".  Later forming the collective "Max Q", he appeared in a limited capacity on their sole release.  A proper solo album began with demos as early as 1995.  His premature death at his own hand in 1997, led to the resumption of the tracks by producers Andy Gill (of Gang of 4) and Danny Saber.  While it is impossible to tell if Michael would have wanted these tracks to sound as they do, it could certainly be said that the mood of the album differs from the usual INXS fare and has a particularly British tint to it, colored by the sounds of England's music scene at the time.  Perhaps it was to make it more marketable, or perhaps just the bent of the producers.  In another's ears and hands, these tracks might have taken on a different life entirely.  2000.
