ROBERT HAZARD

From Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Led by Robert Hazard (Robert Rimato)(vocals) with John Lilley (guitar), Michael Pilla (guitar), Ken Bernard (drums), Rob Miller (bass) and Jerry Weindel (keyboards). Robert Hazard & The Heroes had a 1982 hit with "Escalator Of Life". A few lesser singles followed before the band disappeared from the scene. Outside of the one classic however, in 1979, Hazard wrote a song called "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" which later of course became a monster hit for Cyndi Lauper. Hazard changed careers a few times, became a collectibles dealer and eventually moved to Florida and then New York, but also continued to release independent folk music albums. Lilley went on to play with The Hooters. Robert Hazard passed away on August 5, 2008 from complications following cancer surgery, he was 59 years old. 1982-2007.
