DEBORAH HARRY
From Miami, Florida. Deborah Harry first recorded in the 60's as part of the folk group Wind In The Willows, long before finding fame with Blondie. Debbie first stepped into solo waters during the final years of Blondie with an album produced by Nile Rogers of Chic, featuring most of that band's members as her backing band. Adventurous and ahead of its time, like most of Blondie's music, the album was somewhat overlooked. A closer listen to Debbie's solo cds reveals a great deal of Blondie themed music, all ignored by the record companies for single releases. Forced by the record companies into mostly mediocre dance tracks during the 90's, Debbie found an outlet by joining improvisational jazz group, The Jazz Passengers. Finally in a move that reeks of calculation, Blondie returned in 1998 with a new album. Debbie will always be remembered as a groundbreaker, making the vast number of female pop acts that followed a possibility. Truly, she is the first lady of punk rock. Debbie has also enjoyed a sporadic career in film. 1980-present.
