HAPPY MONDAYS

From Manchester, England. One of the premiere bands of the rave scene led by Shaun Ryder (vocals) with brother Paul Ryder (bass), Paul "PD" Davis (keyboards), Gary "Gaz" Whelan (drums), Mark "Moose" Day (guitar) and Mark "Bez" Berry (dancer). Their crazy behavior and excessive drug use put them in the pages of the British tabloids many times. Groovy, house, dance all night stuff. The band ended in 1993 after they came to the conclusion that the membership was too chemical dependent to function anymore! The band derive their name from the New Order song "Blue Monday". Shaun Ryder went on to form Black Grape which dissolved after two albums. In 1999, Happy Mondays reformed for a tour and released an unsuccessful single, toured again in 2003, and have since played festivals but did not release any new material in all that time. In 2006, the band leaked a new song and a 2007 album release followed. 1985-93/1999/2006-present.
