BORIS GREBENSHIKOV
From Moscow, Russia. Back in the 80's, when the doors to the outside world were starting to open to the former Soviet Union, Russia's premiere rock band Aquarium lost its lead singer to dreams of American success. It didn't happen and he returned to his homeland where he resumed leadership of Aquarium. His first English language album was produced by Dave Stewart of Eurythmics in 1989. In the former Soviet Union where individuality and having an opinion made you a threat, he was treated with indifference by the government while arguably being the biggest rock star that Russia has ever produced. Over the course of over 30 years, including independent tapes, he has released over 70 albums! It's not uncommon for Boris to release three or four albums a year. Such is his popularity that he is known throughout Russia and the satellite nations as simply "BG". Boris also has a grown daughter Alisa, who is a popular young actress in Russia. 1981-present.
