THE GRACES
From California. A group formed by Go-Go's lead guitarist Charlotte Caffey (vocals/guitar) with Meredith Brooks (vocals/bass) and Gia Ciambotti (vocals/drums). This project only lasted one album. The group derived their name from Greek mythology, The Graces were the daughters of Zeus and Eurynome and they represented splendor, festivity and rejoicing. Brooks would finally score a solo hit in 1997 with "Bitch". Caffey continues to write music for others and is still a member of The Go-Go's whenever they get together. Ciambotti contributes backing vocals to many bands (most recently Badly Drawn Boy) and leads a soul revival group known as The Scarletts. The Graces scored a hit with "Lay Down Your Arms" which Belinda Carlisle later covered on one of her solo albums. 1989.
