From England. The alternative genre's first make believe band! Along the lines of The Archies, Josie & The Pussycats and other cartoon based characters, Gorillaz is the musical outlet of Blur's Damon Albarn (vocals) and animator Jamie Hewlett. The cartoon characters have the names of Murdoc, 2-D, Noodle and Russel. Along with Dan "The Automator"Nakamura (sampling), Del Tha Funkee Homosapien (rapping), and other contributors, the group went on tour by playing only in silhouette behind a large screen featuring the band's animated altar egos!
