GODSMACK
From
Methuen, Massachusetts. Led by Sully Erna (vocals) with Tony
Rombola
(guitars), Robbie Merrill (guitar) and Shannon Larkin (drums).
This metal band
strays into industrial and grunge influences in their music earning
them a spot
on many alternative radio stations. They named themselves after the
song by
Alice In Chains and also as a figure of speech. Erna, a
practicing
warlock,
made fun of former drummer Joe D'Arco when he showed up with a cold
sore before a
photography session, and ended up with a big one himself the next
day. His
bandmates pointed out that that's what he gets and god smacked him one
for
making fun. They think the word godsmack means instant
karma. This
band also exemplifies the metal sound that has been mistaken for being
alternative in late 90's alternative music. Former skins pounder
Tommy Stewart who played with the band from 1997 to 2002 ended up in
the latest version of the band Fuel. 1997-present.
