THE GIN BLOSSOMS
From Tempe, Arizona. Led by Robin Wilson (vocals) with Jesse Valenzuela (guitar), Scott Johnson (guitar), Phillip Rhodes (drums), Bill Leen (bass) and Doug Hopkins (guitar on first two albums). Hopkins, who wrote all the band's hits, committed suicide on December 5, 1993. The band's reaction to that and their success is captured in the title of their third album "Congratulations, I'm Sorry". The subsequent failure of that album led to a band break-up in 1997. The band got their name from the condition that makes rosy red noses on those who drink too much alcohol. Wilson & Rhodes continued to record in the band Gas Giants, while Valenzuela formed the Low/Watts. In 2002, the band reunited without Rhodes and began touring again. Rhodes rejoined the band in 2005 reuniting all the members. Their first new album in ten years is due in 2006. 1988-96/2006-present..
