THE GERMS
From Los Angeles. Led by Darby Crash (Jan Paul Beahm)(aka Bobby Pyn)(vocals) with Lorna Doom (Terri Ryan)(bass), Pat Smear (Georg Ruthenberg)(guitar) and Don Bolles (drums). Hardcore magnificence, loud and sloppy as it should be. Crash killed himself with a heroin overdose on December 7, 1980 an event that in the music world went largely unnoticed due to the assassination of John Lennon the very next day. Pat Smear later became an auxiliary member of Nirvana and The Foo Fighters. Original drummer Dottie Danger (Belinda Carlisle) joined The Go-Go's and went on to great fame as a solo artist as well. A semi-fictional movie of Crash's life with The Germs resulted in a band reformation led by the actor who plays Darby in the film, Shane West. In 2010, their last concert was released which took place at The Starwood club only three days before Darby's death. 1977-80.
