GANG OF FOUR
From Leeds, England. Named after the leaders of China's conspiracy scandal in the days after Mao. Led by Jon King (vocals) and Andy Gill (guitar) with Dave Allen (bass) and Hugo Burnham (drums). Original member Dave Allen went on to form Shriekback and King Swamp. Sort of punk, sort of funk, never predictable. Noisy in the earlier part of their career. Gill continued the band sporadically in the 90's. Gill and King reunited to create a movie soundtrack for the film "Delinquent" and much of that music became the "Shrinkwrapped" album. In 2005 the band reunited for a worldwide reunion tour and released an album of cover versions of their own songs! 1978-83/1990-95/2005-present.
