DAVE GAHAN
From Chigwell, Essex, England. The leader of Depeche Mode stepped out for the first time on a Eurovison contest single "Song For Europe", a cover of a Roxy Music song. While the song was good, it wasn't the stuff of solo careers. Now with Depeche Mode part of musical history, Gahan attempts to create some solo magic of his own. But like Robert Smith, Bono, Michael Hutchence and other lead singers that are closely related to their bands, solo success may prove daunting to find in a generation far removed from their success of years past. 1997-present.
