FRANKIE GOES TO HOLLYWOOD
From Liverpool, England. Led by Holly Johnson (vocals) with Paul Rutherford (keyboards), Peter Gill (drums), Brian Nash (guitar) and Mark O'Toole (bass). Named after the headline on a 1940's copy of Variety magazine that referred to Frank Sinatra's movie debut. The group was a product of hype from the start and ended after only two albums. Holly was previously a solo artist and member of Big In Japan and once again remains a solo artist. Holly's autobiography revealed that he is HIV positive and he has been concentrating on a career as an artist now. A temporary bassist for the band toured a fake "Frankie" show through the US in 1999! The band almost reunited in 2003 thanks to the VH-1 program Bands Reunited, but Johnson nixed the idea of any performance. 1984-86.
