FLIPPER

From San Francisco, California.  Led by Bruce Loose (Bruce Calderwood)(vocals/bass) and Will Shatter (Russell Wilkinson)(vocals) with John Dougherty (bass), Ted Falconi (guitar) and Steve DePace (drums).  Influential punk outfit that broke up after Shatter died of a drug overdose in 1987.  A major part of the San Francisco punk scene, their influence is notable.  Loose reformed the band in 1991.  Sometime around 2001, Loose was involved in a serious car crash and the resulting damage to his body finished the band as a touring entity.  Techno king Moby was once a temporary member of the band when Shatter was serving a jail sentence.  In 2006, the band reactivated, this time with Nirvana's Krist Novoselic on bass and lasted about two years.  A new album finally arrived in 2009 with Novoselic's work but with new bass player Rachel Thoele for road work.  Former bass player John Dougherty also was a heroin overdose casualty, passing away in 1997.  1981-85/1991-93/2009-present.
