THE FEELIES
From Haledon, New Jersey. Led by Glenn Mercer (vocals/guitar) with Bill Million (guitar/vocals), Dave Weckerman (percussion), Keith Clayton (bass) and Anton Fier (drums). This band made the legendary "Crazy Rhythms" lp in 1980 and then vanished from sight. Their early career was marked by the fact that they would only play out on holidays! Fier was drumming for The Lounge Lizards at the time as well and went on to form The Golden Palominos. The band reactivated in the late 80's with new members Brenda Sauter (bass) and Stanley Demeski (drums), found a few hits, then broke up again in 1991. They also worked under a few other names including The Willies and Yung Wu. The band appears as The Willies in the movie "Something Wild" as a high school reunion band. Mercer and Weckerman decided to continue on under the new name Wake Ooloo and have released three albums. In July 2008, Sonic Youth leader Thurston Moore asked The Feelies to reform for a festival appearance (on a holiday of course) which resulted in a handful of other dates and a full fledged reunion. The new "old" line-up includes Mercer, Million, Weckerman, Sauter and Demeski on board and if we're very lucky, we might see some new recorded material as well. 1979-80/1985-91.
