FALL OUT BOY
From Chicago, Illinois. Led by Patrick Stump (vocals/guitar) and Pete Wentz (bass) with Joe Trohman (guitar) and Andy Hurley (drums). A pop-punk and emo feel to this band, they rode a quick wave of popularity spurred on not only by their sound but also the pretty boy antics of their bassist. Wentz gained quick notoriety when naked photos intended for a girlfriend ended up all over the internet. This incident was later mocked in their video for "This Ain't A Scene...". Wentz again attracted attention in 2007 when he began a very public relationship with pop star Ashlee Simpson which resulted in their marriage. Fall Out Boy were one of the bands that gained greatly from word of mouth and the use of the MySpace web site which helped to spread the word of the bands music. But hype can only go so far and the band quickly could not meet the growing expectations of the public and the media. By 2009 the band were at odds with each other and Stump began work on a solo project. In February of 2010, the band members all agreed that the band was a dead issue. Fall Out Boy derived their name from the fictional super hero character on the television series "The Simpsons". 2002-2009.
