DIVINYLS
From Sydney, Australia. Led by Christina Amphlett (vocals) and Mark McEntee (guitar). This band started out supplying music on a soundtrack that blossomed into a full album. An unlikely alternative act (McEntee did time as a guitarist for Air Supply), Amphlett's strong presence made them a smash. After two albums the five piece band were down to an essential duo. While never officially breaking up the group, an unstated hiatus began in 1996 and lasted for ten years. In 1998, Amphlett appeared in a stage production where she portrayed Judy Garland. In 2007, a reunion between Amphlett and McEntee spurred a new touring formation of Divinyls and a new single with a full album expected in 2008. Amphlett announced in 2007 that she is suffering from Multiple Sclerosis but does not intend to let it slow the band reunion in any way. 1981-1996/2007-present.
