ANI DiFRANCO
From Buffalo, New York. For over a decade, this independent folk artist has garnered a large and dedicated following. Biting, sarcastic and caustic, her music is both humorous and heartfelt. By refusing to sign with a major label, she created a cottage industry for her successful Righteous Babe label. A devoted portion of her audience is homosexual and she raised many an eyebrow in the lesbian community when their "sister" went and married a man! Ani continues to break new ground and follow her muse as she sees fit with almost yearly new releases. 1990-present.
