DEXY'S MIDNIGHT RUNNERS

From Birmingham, England.  Led by Kevin Rowland (vocals) with a constantly changing group of support players.  Many have thought this group to be Irish due to the sound of their hit "Come On Eileen".  After the group's demise, Rowland disappeared off the music scene for many years.  Former Dexy's members have popped up here and there, Mick Talbot became one half of The Style Council with Paul Weller.  The "Dexy" in the band is not a person but a slang derived form of the word for the drug dexedrine.  So the band's name actually stands for people on speed late at night!  In 2003, Rowland began touring again and released new music under the Dexy's name.  1980-85/2003-present.
