THE DEAD BOYS

From Cleveland, Ohio.  Led by Stiv Bators (vocals) with Johnny Blitz (John Madansky)(drums), Cheetah Chrome (Gene O'Connor)(guitar) and Jeff Magnum (Jeff Halmagy)(bass).  Beginning as Frankenstein, a spin off band of Rocket From The Tombs (early Pere Ubu), Bators and company started out more like Alice Cooper and ended up like Iggy Pop.  An early New York City appearance at CBGB's convinced the band to move there to become part of the new punk scene.  They lasted only a short time before Bators moved on to form Lords Of The New Church.  In 1987, a brief reunion resulted in a new single.  The group were sporadically working on a new album when Bators died in an auto accident in Paris in 1990.  In 2005 the original members (minus Stiv) went on tour.  1977-81/1987.
