THE DAMNED
From England. Led by Dave Vanian (David Letts)(vocals) with Captain Sensible (Ray Burns)(guitar), Rat Scabies (Chris Miller)(drums) and Brian James (Brian Robertson)(bass). Formed in 1976, The Damned were the first band to release a punk rock single in the UK, and the first to tour America as well! Through many line-up changes and style changes, they persist today as one of the longer lived alternative rock acts despite breaking up for years at a time, only to come back again and again. Of all the members, only Capt. Sensible has had a successful solo career, and in recent years the band has had a legal fight with Rat Scabies who tried to dissolve the group over the use of the band's name. Because the band continued on without him, he's suing in an attempt to keep The Damned's name to himself! The band's most recent line-up includes: Capt. Sensible, Vanian, his longtime companion Patricia Morrison (bass), Monty Oxy Moron (keyboards) and Pinch (drums). Morrison brings with her a long rock pedigree including stints with both The Gun Club and Sisters Of Mercy. Scabies found a later career as an author and treasure seeker, becoming an authority on the search for the Holy Grail! 1976-present.
