JIM CARROLL
From
New York City. Street poet Carroll turned to music after his poet buddy
Patti Smith became a success. His autobiographical work "The Basketball
Diaries" was turned into a film starring Leonardo DiCaprio in 1995. His
musical career had always been a side project and the Jim Carroll Band only
mustered out one definitive single, the fast paced "People Who Died" which
remains a new wave classic. Carroll died of a heart attack, September 11,
2009 at age 60. 1980-present.
