CAMPER VAN BEETHOVEN
From Redlands, California. Led by David Lowery (vocals/guitar) with Morgan Fichter (violin), Greg Lisher (guitar), Victor Krummenacher (bass) and Chris Pedersen (drums). Releasing many independent classics on the Rough Trade label during the 80's where small distribution led to a small audience. They began as Box O' Laffs in 1981 with one album released under that name. Their reputation as musicians and jesters preceded them but by the time they signed to Virgin, the fire had begun to die out. Lowery split the band and formed Cracker while the remaining members formed The Monks Of Doom. In 2001, the band reunited for a twentieth anniversary tour and released their first new album in fifteen years in October 2004. 1981-88/2004-present.
