THE CALL

From Los Angeles.  Led by Michael Been (vocals/bass) with Tom Ferrier (guitar), Jim Goodwin (keyboards) and Scott Musick (drums).  One of the most widely praised bands of the alternative 80's, The Call were known for both their Christian leanings and political stance found in the lyrics of their powerful music.  They found acceptance on both mainstream and alternative rock radio in the 80's with "Let The Day Begin" becoming their mosat widely known song.. Been attempted a solo career and released a solo disc in 1994, but the band quietly reformed in 1997 for a final album.  Michael's son Robert is the bass player in Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.  Sadly on August 19, 2010, Michael Been passed away from a heart attack while working as soundman at a BMRC performance in Belgium.  He was 60 years old.  1982-90/1997.
