From Los Angeles. Led by Senen "Sen Dog" Reyes with Lawrence "DJ Muggs" Muggerud, Louis "B-Real" Freese and Eric Bobo (percussion). Closer to a hardcore rap act than an alternative band, this group takes a powerful stance lyrically, much like gangster rap. As a primarily white act, their heritage is closer to Public Enemy with touches of Rage Against The Machine than it is to The Beastie Boys. With the popularity of metal's merging with rap in alternative rock, it was inevitable that this band would eventually break onto the alternative charts. The group performed mostly for Latin audiences in its early days and Sen Dog's brother is popular rapper Mellow Man Ace. The bands name comes from a street that runs through the infamous South Central section of L.A. Muggs produced House Of Pain's breakthrough album and the comparison between sound and style is evident. 1991-present.
