CULTURE CLUB
From London. Led by Boy George (George O'Dowd) (vocals) with Jon Moss (drums), Roy Hay (guitar) and Mikey Craig (bass). This band capitalized on George's transvestite androgyny and great voice to form a unique focal point for the band. George had already had some on stage experience in the role of Lt. Lush (a temporary member of Bow Wow Wow). Moss had previously been playing with The Damned. Several albums on, they ran out of steam but at one point were the biggest band in the world. Boy George went on to a solo career and many personal problems to sort out. The band reformed in 1997 and successfully toured and recorded a new album of songs. 1982-87/1997-99.
