SHERYL CROW
From Kennett, Missouri. Sheryl Crow (vocals/guitar) was an elementary school music teacher before chucking education for a career in music. She began as a back-up singer for Michael Jackson and Don Henley. A first album was scrapped but a few copies of the demo made it out to radio stations but never to the stores in 1992. With the help of a gang of musicians that would meet every Tuesday night to play, Sheryl came up with a new sound and an album as well. To prove she wasn't a hit only because of those meetings, her second official album was written and produced by herself! For some reason the press have savaged her from time to time tagging her as a plagiarist and a home wrecker. But Crow has very graciously kept the media at bay and retained her dignity and privacy throughout any controversies. Crow was romantically linked with professional cyclist Lance Armstrong for several years. After breaking up with him in 2006, she announced that she had breast cancer but had an early detection and quick treatment to the problem. She adopted a child the following year and has returned to the style of her earlier albums1992-present.
