From Texas. Josie Cotton (vocals) has an interesting story. Supposedly a rich girl with oodles of money who bought her way into pop fame, (a popular story which has never been proved), Cotton came to Los Angeles in the late 70's as a songwriter. With a 1960's bouffant hairdo and groovy clothes to match, she made her debut with a song originally performed by The Go-Go's called "Johnny Are You Queer?". The novelty aspect made her a cult phenomenon on college radio across the country. You can see her sing another hit ("He Could Be the One") in the movie "Valley Girl". After two albums she disappeared but made a quiet comeback with a Spanish folk inspired album under the name Josey Cotton in 1994. A false start resulted in the return of Josie again ten years later! 1982-84/1994/2005-present.
