From England. Led by Chris Martin (vocals/guitar/keyboards) with Jonny Buckland (guitar), Guy Berryman (bass) and Will Champion (drums). Martin's vocals have both been praised and criticized for their resemblance to the sound of Dave Matthews. In 2002, Martin began dating actress Gwyneth Paltrow and in December of 2003, they married and later had a child that they named Apple. The band is named after a book of children's poetry, however that name was taken from a retiring band named Coldplay when the group chucked its original name of Starfish. 1999-present.
