NENEH CHERRY
From Stockholm, Sweden. The step-daughter of the late jazz trumpeter Don Cherry. Neneh did her time in several UK bands including a late incarnation of The Slits and the dance band Rip Rig + Panic. Merging alternative rock and hip hop in her own dance oriented style, she broke her first hit "Buffalo Stance" by taking from Malcom McLaren's "Buffalo Girls". Later hits include collaborations with Michael Stipe and Youssou N'Dour. 1988-present.
