From Chicago, Illinois. The vocalist of X and The Knitters and a poet and spoken word performer. Her eclectic tastes are best evidenced by a cd she issued featuring herself reading "the Unabomber manifesto". Formerly known as Exene Cervenka, she lengthened her name to incorporate her original family name of Cervenkova in 1996. She was born with the name Christine Cervenka, however she is best known as just Exene. She has been married twice, first to X bandmate John Doe then later to actor Viggo Mortenson. In 1997 she teamed with fellow X-er DJ Bonebreak and Rancid's Matt Freeman to form Auntie Christ. As of 2002, Exene is also a member of the band Original Sinners. 1985-present.
