THE BEAT FARMERS

From San Diego, California. Led by Jerry Raney (guitar/vocals) with Joey Harris (vocals/guitar), Rolle Dexter "Love" (bass) and the band's saving grace, Country Dick Montana (vocals/drums). Rockers with a big sense of humor, the band lasted ten years before Montana died of a heart attack while performing on stage in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada. The band called it quits on the spot, a large blow to the group since Montana was recovering from a bout of throat cancer when it happened. Raney, Harris & Love quietly reunited as The Beat Farmers in September of 1998 for a local San Diego street performance and then a series of west coast dates in 2001 that also included original vocalist/guitarist Buddy Blue and prompted the band to get together again on a touring basis only and they are currently still playing out. Raney & Harris are also members of the band Powerthud. 1985-95.
