BAUHAUS
From Northampton, England. Led by Peter Murphy (vocals) with Daniel Ash (guitar), David J. (bass) and brother Kevin Haskins (drums). Heavily influenced by glam era rock, Bauhaus were responsible for helping to create the gothic scene. Best known for their 1979 independent hit "Bela Lugosi's Dead" which they can be seen performing in the David Bowie film "The Hunger"! After the group split, Murphy formed Dali's Car with Japan's Mick Karn before moving on to a successful solo career. David J. joined The Jazz Butcher Conspiracy. Ash and Haskins formed Tones On Tail then rejoined with David J. to form Love And Rockets. Bauhaus began as The Submerged Tenth, The Craze, Jack Plug & The Sockettes, and Bauhaus 1919. In 1998, Bauhaus reformed for a tour which was very successful, fifteen years after they originally called it quits. Impossible to believe, it took another ten years for them to create a new studio album, released in 2008. 1979-83/2008.
